There may be money waiting in your name. We'll help you get it back.
When a bank, company, share registry or employer can't reach you, the money is set aside for you – often handed to the government to look after. We match it to you, tell you exactly what's needed, and handle the claim. You only pay a fee if your claim is successful.
With the high cost of living today, money you didn't know about can make a real difference. Many of our customers put it towards bills and groceries, or set it aside for a rainy day.

Scams are everywhere, so you're right to be careful. Type in the number or email address that contacted you and we'll tell you if it's really us.
The only ways we contact you
- ask you to pay anything upfront
- ask for your bank password, PIN or a one-time code
- pressure you to decide on the spot
How money ends up waiting for you
It's more common than people think, and it's usually nobody's fault – a move, a name change, or a cheque that never arrived. Tap each step.
Why we got in touch, in 90 seconds
A short video explaining how money ends up waiting for people, why we contacted you, and what happens next.
Three steps. We do the heavy lifting.
- You
Confirm it's you and sign
Sign our one-page Authority to Act. It lets us deal with the claim for you and takes about two minutes. Sign online here, or send the form back by email, text message or post.
- You
Send copies of your documents
Proof of who you are and something linking you to the last known address on record. Upload them here, email them, text us a photo or post them – whatever's easiest. Not sure what you have? We'll help you find alternatives.
- We
We lodge it and you get paid
We prepare and lodge the claim, follow it up, and keep you posted. Depending on who holds the money, it's either paid to us and we pass it on less our fee, or paid straight to you and we send you an invoice. If your claim involves shares, you receive what you're owed – money, shares in your name, or both.
How long it takes depends on who holds the money. Many claims are paid within 30 days of being lodged. Others take longer – for example when more information is requested, or when new shares are only issued at set times of the year. We keep you updated the whole way.
See exactly what you'd receive
Our fee is 15% plus GST, with a minimum of $500 plus GST. For shares, it's based on their value when they're issued to you. If the claim isn't successful, you pay nothing.
Drag or type an amount.
What you'll need
The money can only be paid to the rightful owner, so every claim needs proof of who you are and proof of your connection to the last known address on record. What's accepted depends on what we're claiming for you.
What are we claiming for you?
Our message to you says which one applies and lists exactly what your claim needs.

Straight answers
Is this a scam?
No. Smarter Claims Pty Ltd has been registered since 2014 and you can look up our ABN (90 168 810 213). We never ask for money upfront. Use the checker above to confirm a message came from us, or call us before doing anything.
How did you find me?
Money held for people who can't be reached is listed on public records, usually with a name and the last known address. We search those records and use publicly available information to find the likely owner today. That's why we first ask you to confirm you're the right person.
If we can't find your details, we may contact a family member who lived at the same address and ask them to pass on our message.
If you'd rather we didn't contact you again, reply "stop" and we'll remove you.
Can I claim it myself?
Yes, if you know where to look and have the time, patience and know-how. Anyone is entitled to claim their own money directly. Most of our customers choose us because we do the hard parts:
- We've already done the searching. Records are often under a last known address that's out of date, a previous name or a misspelling, so they're easy to miss.
- We know what proof will be accepted and help you find alternatives.
- We prepare and lodge the claim and follow it up until it's paid, including deceased estates and shares.
Why can't you tell me the details upfront?
To protect you. We only share the full details once we've confirmed who you are and you've signed the Authority to Act, so the information never reaches the wrong person.
How do I get paid?
It depends on who holds the money. Sometimes the payment comes to us and we transfer it to your nominated bank account, less our fee. Other times it's paid straight to you, and we send you an invoice for our fee.
Shares are transferred into your name and you receive a holding statement. Our fee is based on their value on the day they're issued to you.
What if the claim isn't successful?
You pay nothing. Our fee is only charged on money or shares that are actually recovered.
Ready when you are
